CLASS
SINGLE SWORD CLASS
Come learn how to parry and slash like a swashbuckling pirate! This class will teach you how to safely put danger on the stage to keep your audience on the edge of their seats — something you’ll get to do by performing a short scene at the end of the course.
In this class, you will learn the basic concepts of single sword stage combat including:
• The importance of safety and consent
• Levels and types of attacks
• Ways to defend yourself
• Character choices in the heat of battle
• On- and off-line footwork
• Sword maintenance
• Wounds and kills
You will need to bring your own gloves (e.g., batting, gardening) by the second class to help maintain swords and help with grip.
